Our Classroom Discipline Plan

Students start on Ready to Learn in the beginning of the day. If they are being good leaders (making good choices), they will have the opportunity to move up. If they are able to end the day by being Super Status, Outstanding, or Ready to Learn, they will receive a stamp on their hand. This will let you know that they had a good day at school. If they do not receive a stamp, then you will know that they did not make good choices throughout the day (they may have to lose a privilege, finish their classwork during passion time, time-out at recess, and/or parent contact). Students have the opportunity to move up and down on the Digging up Super Behavior Chart throughout the school day. If they earn Super Status at the end of the day, they get to put a sticker in their flowerpot. When they are able to fill their flowerpot, they receive a special reward/privilege.

Classwork

Please encourage your child to try their very best on classwork assignments. I will be giving stars for excellent classwork and a check for fair classwork. They will be bringing home all of their graded classwork on Fridays. We will be using Standard Based report cards (1-4 rubric scale). The report card is based on the Florida State Standards for Kindergarten. Your child will be receiving 1’s(does not meet expectations), 2’s (making progress towards expectations), 3’s (meets expectations), or 4's (exceeds expectations) on all of their assessments.

Take home folders will be going home Mondays-Thursdays. Folders include the following: sample reading questions, student progression plan, & 100 Fry Sight Words page. Please return this folder daily. After your child has mastered all of their letters/sounds, we will move on to the Fry Sight Words book. The Fry Sight Word book will be going back & forth to school daily. Please study this book with your child daily. Your child will also be reading books on their level. These leveled readers will be going back & forth to school daily. Our goal is for your child to be reading & mastering 100+ Fry sight words by the end of the school year. Please continue to practice letters/sounds daily with your child. Most of your child's graded classwork/homework will be going home on Fridays (it will be in their backpacks). I will be keeping their folders on Fridays (over the weekend) & will return them back to the students on Mondays. Fry Sight Word books and leveled readers are due daily (after they have mastered their letters/sounds). If your child is having difficulty mastering their letters/sounds, it's best to practice daily. It takes a village. Thank you for your support.
